Ostimporten - an alternative to Swedish cheese
Ostimporten was started in 1996 in Ystad, a town in southern Sweden. The impetus behind Ostimporten was to provide an import alternative to Swedish pizza wholesalers at competitively lower prices. This was made possible after Sweden joined the EU in 1995, when import tariffs were lifted.
Dutch Gouda
Our 15-kg block of Dutch Gouda was an instant success among Swedish pizza bakers.
The combination of good taste, superior melting properties and a competitive price made the
sales of Dutch Gouda steadily increase since the late-1990's.
Cheese from Germany
German cheese was added to the product catalogue during the years 2000-2004.
In addition, we began to import a number of additional cheeses from Denmark and Finland.
Ostimporten Syd AB
In 2005, Bodekull FAB took over Ostimporten. Located in Karlshamn, a city in southeastern Sweden, Bodekull FAB was started by four entrepeneurs with considerable knowledge of food and logistics. Björn Samuelsson, Managing Director for Ostimporten (and a 25% owner of Bodekull FAB), has together with Helen Grankvist, broadened Ostimporten industry profile from an importer of pizza cheese to a competitive partner for restaurant wholesalers and industry. Today, approxmately 20 different products from Denmark, France, Holland, Italy and Germany for quick service to all of Sweden are stocked in our warehouse, located at Expressenlagret in Karlshamn. Sales to Finland have increased steadily during the last year and our revenue has increased with 10 M SEK from 2006 to 2007 and is currently at 67 M SEK.

In addition to the products we regularly have in stock at our warehouse in Karlshamn, we can also provide our customers with the possibility of special ordering any cheeses from our import sources.
